Some people say a game is coded in mud
An HR's made of nerfin' and crud
Slow animations and stiff old bones
The feat tree's weak and the bugs are strong

You play fifteen mods, what do you get?
Another nerfhammer and no kinda help
CR don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the the wonky zen store

I was born in Mod Two when the shootin' was fine
I strung up my bow and I sharpened my knives
I was top paingiver and I shouted for joy
The dev boss said, “Well-a nerf that boy.”

You play fifteen mods, what do you get?
Another nerfhammer and no kinda help
REQ don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the the wonky zen store

I was nerfed one morning, it was drizzlin' rain
Nerfin' and buggin' are my middle name
But I found a new build with the heart of a lion
Can't no-a high-toned dev make me walk the line

You play fifteen mods, what do you get?
Another nerfhammer and no kinda help
Endgame don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the the wonky zen store

If you see the nerf comin' better step aside
A lot o' rangers didn't and a lot o' them died
The damage don't scale and the powers don't proc
It's highly illogical, said Mr. Spock

You play fifteen mods, what do you get?
Another nerfhammer and no kinda help
Won't let us do damage, they want us to buff
I'll tell them just where and what they can stuff

"It's a Nerf, Jim, but not as we know it!"

Oddly enough, a friend of mine sent me a screen shot of his HR getting 1.9 billion in Castle Ravenloft. He wanted me to see how well he had done after some basic, beginner's advice when my DC picked him up off the ice fighting demons at LAST year's Winter Festival when he was a new level 17.

Nice poem, but when a nerf comes, you have to reconsider your build, gear and enchants. It's a pain, but we've all done it. Most nerfs are fixing broken things, anyway, like 100% Armour Penetration.

Reconsidering one's build will not undo pointless nonsense like the target cap nerfs to all HR AoE abilities. They're all capped at 5 targets, but somehow a TR with only tend fingers can throw forty knives at once with Blitz if it wants to. Reconsidering a build doesn't help when HR has to stack 4000 more crit than other classes to reach 100% and then is reminded, by all the yellow damage indicators scrolling by, that some HR abilities/damage procs just can't crit. It doesn't help when the devs force the class to fight in melee range but leave it vulnerable to every interrupt and control ability so that and HR can spend half of a boss fight being pushed back or stunned or what have you while a GWF or TR just merrily presses a button and continues working. Your friend probably had a party that let him be main DPS, so adjusted their style to make up for the class' abysmally slow movement and then applied buffs properly. Sometimes I've melted bosses in a few seconds because my team knew how to do that, sometimes I've struggled with a team of highly geared players. And if you think that I haven't reconsidered my build and enchants to make up for every pointless, uncalled for nerf and obstacle the devs have thrown at the class then you should reconsider making assumptions.
